Welcome. It's about time I got a bit more active on here.

Saw the ACC semi's. How the hell did you lose that one? No offence to Mewberries, but your plot was better than hers by a mile (Casidale is such a God Mode Sue)...
:iconmewberries:
Not that I dispute the fact that LL's ACC semi was better than mine (I don't. Hers beats the pants off mine by a country mile artistically and story-wise, and I'm still amazed that mine won and not hers) and not to stick my nose into a private conversation but...

...Why do you feel that Casilde (not Casidale, but you're not the first to mispell it, so no worries XD; ) is a God Mode Sue?

I'm mostly looking for more specific constructive criticism here as Casilde is still a developing character and I'd like to balance her out a little better if indeed she is becoming Sue-ish. ^^

(Part 2)

Also, Round 1 and Round 3 both seem to have Casidle as not the protagonist, but as the atagonist, an obstacle that the other character fails to overcome. She's not the hero, she's the Big Bad Wolf... and both times, Red Riding Hood gets eaten.
:iconmewberries:
(Part 2 Reply)

Sooo...because she's more of an antagonist (I was shooting for anti-hero, but even I'll admit I don't think she quite fits that idea by most definitions...yet) in the comics, that makes her a Mary-Sue? *is not quite sure what you mean*

Or is it simply because she's not as likeable a character as the other ACC combatants? If that's it, I can safely say that I don't think a character being unlikeable, or a character of questionable motives/morals should put her instantly into Mary-Sue territory nor in God-Mode territory. (Unless say, everyone still liked her for some reason despite her obvious social flaws, which they don't. She has next to no friendships with any of the ACC or even the original CL gang characters and has only just started to consider (as of the beginning of last round) making allies. )

Your comparison of her to the Big Bad Wolf is interesting in that, I have to ask, wouldn't it be more intriguing to see the story from the antagonist's point of view once in awhile, especially one in which the protagonist is pre-ordained to fail? My round arcs are modeled a lot off of this idea, as well as my desire to fully enjoy getting into the head of the other ACC characters. I could always focus on my character and make her look good, but I find it more of a challenge to make the person she's fighting look good, especially when you're "supposed" to want your character "rooted for".

I may totally be misunderstanding what you meant there, so if I did, please correct me so that I know what you actually meant. :XD:

At any rate, I totally am not saying that Casilde doesn't have issues with her character because she does. Omigosh, how she does, but she's still a developing character (even this late into the tournament) and I plan on working with her more to fix the problems she does have. Thanks for pointing out what your issues were with her as this will help me look more into what needs to be changed, whether it be better clarification of her limits, character adjustment, or even something as simple as minding how many monsters she destroys in any given battle. I don't mind if people don't like her, but I don't want her to be disliked because she's not consistent as a character.

"...Why do you feel that Casilde (not Casidale, but you're not the first to mispell it, so no worries XD; ) is a God Mode Sue?"

Nothing seems to be able to beat the hair (In Round 2, it shreds 4 Bloks with no hassle. In Round 3, A single move of Casildle's finger is enough to cocoon Chelsea in hair that was either not there a moment ago or was invisible until that moment). Casildle's battles look effortless. According to her profile, her hair is basically limitless, which doesn't help either.

Basically, (and this is the problem Saguinewolf now has to think about), how does she lose? Casildle doesn't actually seeem to have any weaknesses.
:iconmewberries:
Casilde is based almost entirely off of Yura of the Hair (a very early Inuyasha villain), so the idea for her fighting style came from her. Everything that Casilde can do is something that Yura was capable of doing in the episode she appeared in (although granted Yura didn't technically "cocoon" victims; she would "spider web" them though and use her hairs to tie them up in the same way that a cocoon worked. I use the "cocoon" imagery to save myself from having to draw multiple hairs criss-crossing around a person's body and because the cocoon achieves the same effect, but I can see where it starts to look like overkill. >.>;

The "limitless supply of hair" was done because the hair she uses supposedly comes from her own comb and head her supply is basically limitless so long as she has hair(Yura used other peoples' hair which she collected religiously into a near limitless supply...which couldn't be applied in Lyoko, and was honestly just plain creepy XD ). Add in the fact that having Jeremie "re-load" hair for her...or the idea of her "running out of hair" makes for awkward situations and you can see why her hair supply gets breezed over. (Although I admit, I'm laughing rather hard now at the idea of Casilde going bald in Lyoko because she used up all her hair. )

As for the Bloks...that whole incident was supposed to be ridiculously over-blown in order to achieve the humour at the end of the comic. I do see how it makes Casilde look over-powered though. I'll be more mindful of her monster death tally in the future.

Actually, it's great that you bring up ~SanguineWolf and his character Cyrus because he is the perfect example of the type of character that can beat Casilde. You see, the problem with Casilde in this tournament from an RL perspective has been...prior to LL...no one submitted an entry against her. ^^; Thus, other than LL's entry, we've yet to see her lose a match, even in a hypothetical circumstance. Since I can't draw my own character losing the match (unless I pull a plot-line similar to Cyrus' semi final entry), I'm stuck with a character who looks like she "can't lose".

Three ways of defeating Casilde come to my mind immediately but I'm sure there's other ways to be found with a little creativity. Way 1 is tripping and/or destroying her traps, most likely with a blade or cutting weapon of some sort. Destroy the trap, and she has nothing to hit you with. Unfortunately, none of her opponents to date have had sword or blade-based weapons (which is misfortune of the draw really, rather than any fault of the character's). Also, and this ties back into the "no competition entries prior to LL", none of them thought to purposely trip her traps knowingly or from a safe distance. Granted the trip wires are difficult to see but it could be done. Cyrus has a scythe, a bladed weapon, making him perfect for this kind of sabotage fighting.

Way 2 involves avoiding said trap's result in the event you happen to trip it unknowingly. Cyrus is again an amazingly apt candidate for this kind of strategy. Both of his powers of Rift and Phase could get him out of a tight fix were he to fall into one of Casilde's traps either willingly or otherwise. Phase gives him invulnerability rendering any of Casilde's trapping or cutting maneuvers useless and Rift would allow him to cut himself out of the way should he happen to trip a trap. Again, once her trap is sprung/destroyed, it's useless and she has nothing to hit you with, which brings me to Way 3...

Bring her into close combat. Casilde has NOTHING to defend herself with when it comes to close combat short of maybe her fists and kicks (which won't do much considering they're normal powered ), as her hairs are useful in trap situations almost exclusively. There is a moderate chance that, if forced into close combat and unable to escape, she will attempt to rig her Lyoko Power but even that is easy enough to avoid/get out of and she'd be way more likely to take a killing hit before getting a chance to accomplish it.

Personally, I'm excited to have her up against Cyrus if only because he could hand her butt to her that easily.
